Living with the Earth

My journey into gardening and cooking began in 2017, after I was diagnosed with Sjögren’s disease. Years on steroids and autoimmune suppressants left me feeling disconnected from my body, and during that same season of life I lost my mother to cancer while watching my father battle heart disease and diabetes. Seeing his health decline to the point where even a short walk left him breathless changed everything for me. I knew I had to look for a different path forward. That search led me to food as medicine.
As I began growing my own food organically and cooking in a cleaner, more nourishing way, I also started documenting what I was learning. That exploration became a documentary series on the power of food and its impact on health.

What started as personal healing slowly grew into a passion and a purpose.
Along the way, I deepened my knowledge by becoming a University of Florida IFAS Master Gardener Volunteer and earning my Permaculture Design Certificate in Costa Rica. There, I trained in regenerative systems that work with nature instead of against it—an experience that also became a documentary exploring sustainable, regenerative living.

Today, I focus on practical, earth-friendly gardening and simple, wholesome cooking that supports both personal health and the health of the planet. My goal is to make growing food feel accessible—whether you’re starting with a single raised bed, a few containers, or a full backyard garden.
I’m grateful to now work with a wonderful rheumatologist who helps me stay balanced without medication, and I always encourage others to consult their healthcare providers before making changes to their own health routines.
